Very HighResolution (VHR) satellite images offer users a smaller ground sampling distance (GSD) making them more suitable for reliable natural or man-made, objects and landscapes observation, site monitoring, object identification and many other tasks. This versatility makes VHR imagery a powerful resource to Government officials, whichcan be integrated for variety of activities. Recently Forest Survey of India (FSI) acquired VHR data from SkyMap Global through NRSC for forest areas of Karnataka and Maharashtra. An application has developed which allow users to visualize VHR images and other datasets. The important features of Very High Resolution (VHR) web map application are-
- An interactive interface similar to Google Earth for visualizing VHR data.
- Availability of additional datasets such as Landsat-8, LISS-III, Sentinel-2A, LISS-IV, Forest Cover & Forest Type layer, Recorded Forest Areas, etc.
- User can create features (point/line/polygon), as well as upload/ download feature in KML format.
